Weekend with the animals!
The past weekend had been very fulfilling!

Spent the entire Saturday afternoon at the Animal Rescue New Orleans (http://www.animalrescueneworleans.org) doing volunteer work where we cleaned stuff and got to play with the dogs and cats.
I’ve always wanted to volunteer at an animal shelter and this even made it to my resolution’s list one year but I just put it off until I saw the email by the Tulane Catholic Center which mentioned that they had this activity planned. I am so glad I signed up for it! It’s was all in His plans that I saw it and went ahead with it because I really had such a fulfilling time there.
It was really “dirty” job in some sense but seeing how the whole place was cleaned up, after the combined work of all the volunteers, I felt good leaving the place knowing that the doggies have a clean place to live in at least for the next few nights.
My favourite doggy (no pictures since I left my phone in the car) that day was a mixed breed collie called Bella. She was the sweetest and a very beautiful dog. Played with her a little when she came back from her walk and I visited her when she was back in her cage and when she was sleeping I called “Bella, bella” and she woke up from her slumber to rub her face against the cage for me to pet her. Sweetest angel. I wish I could bring Pepper to meet her! Visited her cage again before I left and when I said my goodbye, she just sat there with that look on her face that really made my heart ache :(
(got this off ARNO’s Facebook. Am pretty sure this is Bella! The rust coloring, breed and white paws)
Being that angel she is, I hope and i’m sure she’ll find a good home soon!

Spent Sunday at Equest Farms and Stables.
Got to ride on horses and learn the basic grooming processes. It’s my first time on the horse and we got to walk and trot with the houses. Very very fun indeed! But since it was a group activity, everyone’s turn was pretty short and that was the sucky part.

Scout! One of the horses (out of 3 - Scout, Addie, Frances) we got to ride on

This fella is called Handsome and he’s my favourite!
I take an instant liking to animals who nudge me immediately when I approach them, for some TLC. This fella not only nudge me but also rubbed his entire face on my torso. Adorable!!! And I love this name, how fitting!

This was me riding Frances - a police horse. She’s really tall though so I had such a hard time swinging myself to get up on her.

I believe this is Sixer whose Karen’s favorite horse

Frances & I again! :)
What a fun weekend! Definitely one of the best memories i’ll have of life in NOLA :)
